For over one decade, my colleague Hope Torrents has coordinated “The Fine Art of Health Care” workshop at the Lowe Art Museum. Using art and Visual Thinking Strategies as tools for engagement, nursing students have gained insights into implicit bias, communication strategies, active listening, careful observation, and self-care. They have also attended inter-professional workshops with medical students during “Patient Safety Week.” I have assisted as a facilitator of this program.
