College of Engineering
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I co-organized with my colleague Hope Torrents at the Lowe an object-based workshop for first-year students in Engineering and Business for their course “Innovation in Engineering.” The group discussed shared concepts between artists, entrepreneurs, and engineers. After that initial discussion, students were divided into small groups. They entered the African, Asian, and Indigenous Arts galleries to examine 3-D art objects. Each group selected one artwork as their focus to draw, to examine materials, and to consider function. They reported their findings and their questions to the larger group.
